ThankYou
This page is dedicated to the webmasters that are helping fight against spammers by promptly reacting to abuse complaints. It is proof that contacting the site owner or the host of the service a spammer is using can sometimes do some good.
The companion to this page LoserWebmasters is featuring webmasters that do not react to abuse complaints.
Opera.com
A couple of hours after I reported two splogs on my.opera.com, they were gone and returned 404 errors. Nice going.
literaryescape.com
- Jeff of ZeroFunk found some subdomains of his site in our database (March 4, 2005)
Hi, this is Jeff from ZeroFunk. I have deleted the account of the person who set up the redirect in his/her blog at literaryescape and I appologize for this. I am currently testing a mod to block redirect scripts and the sort from being used in our members' homepages and blogs. I am doing everything I can to help stop this spammer from doing this again. I appologize again, some people just have no morals.
seo-blog.org
- Mike Ness of seo-blog.org replied immediately when notified about a spammer spamming for adipexonline.seo-blog.org
- thanks for letting me know! You are right, this is obvious SPAM and its sanctioned – both his blog and user has been terminated.
If you ever spot such stuff, please keep letting me know – Ill never support SPAM and Ill fight against it with all my powers!
Thank you, Mike!
sexushost.com
Emailing the abuse address quickly got the account of the spammer blocked and all his spammed domains are now 404. They now redirect to some other random porn site which is the normal 404 handling for the site. Not ideal, but the resulting page's
PageRank does not benifit from any from those links since its a redirect.
dyndns.org
- Tim Wilde, Systems Administrator at Dynamic Network Services, Inc. deleted the account kredit.blogdns.org after receiving an abuse complaint
- This user's account has been terminated for their violations of our AUP, thank you for your report.
Other complaints were also handled very quickly and thoroughly. They even terminated accounts that weren't reported but fit a pattern that got visible through the complaints.
notlong.com
- An ecouraging response from notlong.com
- Thanks for reporting this.
I have disabled that and many other notlong URLs created by this person, disabled access for the IP address that created them, and disabled the ability to create long URLs to "1listing.org".
ChangeIP.com
- Two quick and nice responses from ChangeIP.com
- Thank you for reporting. These have all been yanked. Within 5 minutes they should all be pointing to 127.0.0.2.
I just received another report on these same abusive domains… I just removed them all and they should be updating to a 127.0.0.2 address within a minute or so.
pix8.net
- Very fast action by the folks from pix8.net
- After our spam submission form was spammed with lots and lots of links to supposed pictures on an account at pix8.net, I sent an abuse complaint. Only 8 minutes later, the spammer account was deleted and I had a very nice and reassuring reply in my inbox. Good work.
emss.co.za
- Folks at emss took it seriously
- Sorry about that. All content removed, and prevented spammers from doing it again.
bravenet
